  • An Exploratory Analysis of the Uyghur Lobby

This project aims to complete an academic book, “The Uyghur Lobby”, which I have been working since 2009. In essence, I will discuss the networks, strategies, and impacts of the Uyghur lobby in various countries around the world.

Sponsor: National Science Council, Taiwan (NSC100-2410-H-001-114)

  • Uyghur Diaspora in Japan: Political Activism and Impacts

Uyghur communities only started to mobilize and influence Japanese politics in recent years. Currently, there is no single academic paper that is dedicated to Uyghur activism in Japan. This research will fill the lacuna.

    Sponsor: The Sumitomo Foundation, Japan

  • The Rise of Group Interests and Evidences of Interest Articulation in China

This research explores whether recent developments in quantitative content analysis can assist measuring interest articulations in Chinese texts.

Sponsor: National Science Council, Taiwan (NSC98-2917-I-564-147)

  • Transporting Conflicts via Migratory Routes: A Social Network Analysis of the Uyghur International Mobilization

This research explores the crucial roles of the Uyghur diaspora and transnational actors in fashioning and sustaining a collective Uyghur aspiration to advance their brethern's right in China and to further forge an East Turkestan state. These are desires that will admittedly be difficult to achieve from within their perceived homeland of Xinjiang in China. I use social network analysis to map out the Uyghurs' international networks.

Sponsor: The Consortium of Non-Traditional Security Studies in Asia, Singapore

  • European Survey of Ethnopolitical Groups (ESEPG)

The European Survey of Ethnopolitical Groups (ESEPG) provides aggregate data for analyzing the domestic and international engagement of 57 European Ethnopolitical Groups in 31 European countries. It also allows researchers to explore the factors that could have prompted these groups' international presence.

    Sponsor: Baden-Württemberg State, Germany
